Our Approach
LAAP offers a multi-disciplinary approach delivering assessments and reviews for children or young people with or without a diagnosis of autism, complemented with bespoke educational and therapeutic advice.
We achieve this by combining educational, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and psychology perspectives as part of our evaluations.
Autism Diagnostic Assessment
A LAAP assessment of Autism will always include the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2nd Edition (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R) or the Developmental, Dimensional and Diagnostic Interview (3di). Our assessments follow NICE guidelines. We are able to consider whether a child or young person meets the criteria for a diagnosis of autism using these frameworks. We will consider the educational and therapeutic implications of any such diagnosis. We can also review an existing diagnosis and changing needs which may be required at times of educational transition.
Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Assessment
The LAAP team undertakes detailed multi-disciplinary assessments of children or young people where concerns exist around areas other than autism. These concerns may focus around cognition and learning, speech and language and communication, motor skills, co-ordination and sensory processing. The assessment will consider any educational and therapeutic needs.
